In March, residents of LA’s City Council District 10 held two meetings, kicking off an organizing process that aims to set them up for an initial meeting with Interim Councilmember Heather Hutt this spring, highlighting key priorities for her attention and identifying more strategic opportunities for the group's advocacy efforts. In particular, the group gravitated toward their experiences with DISPROPORTIONATE/INEQUITABLE ACCESS TO SERVICES for CD-10 residents. Residents noticed lacking community infrastructure such as safe streets or internet access in particular communities, and noticed a lack of responsiveness as well even when they engaged city services in making their needs known.
This April Zoom meeting builds on those conversations. All CD-10 community members are welcome to engage, particularly those interested in learning how to translate their lived experiences into real policy change, alongside their neighbors.
